With fast food restaurants on every corner and schedules getting more and more hectic, sometimes it’s hard to get a healthy meal on the table. Fresh vegetables somehow turn into french fries (because hey, they’re potatoes!) and hamburgers promptly consist of “protein and carbs” instead of “fatty greasy-filled beef.” To challenge our un-healthy eating habits, Aetna has launch the Aetna Healthy Food Fight to help us get back to good ‘ole-fashioned healthy eating.
To help spread the word about healthy eating, SheSpeaks (www.shespeaks.com) has teamed up with Aetna Healthy Food Fight to create some “healthy” competition to create delicious, winning recipes. As part of the Aetna Healthy Food Fight, they are hosting a special healthy recipe contest, where one lucky “chef” will win a grand prize of $10,000 worth of groceries donated by Recipe.com. That is a whole lot of groceries!
The contest is broken up into four regions – Pomona (now closed), Dallas, Atlanta, and Philly. Submit your own healthy recipe to the region near you. Make sure you check the Healthy Recipe Analyzer to make sure your dish meets the nutritional requirements. Once your recipes is accepted, then get everyone you know to vote for your recipe. The four finalists (one from each region) will compete for $10,000!
Visit the Aetna Healthy Food Fight website now to enter your recipe, or to browse the entries so you can cast your vote for your favorite one! Every time you vote, you’ll be entered into their sweepstakes for a chance to win a set of gourmet cookware! While you’re browsing the recipes, make sure you check out the Test Kitchen, where Bobby Flay shares his 10-second tips for eating healthy.
If you’re on twitter, join us on Sepetmber 15th for the #SSFoodFight Twitter Party Recipe Swap. The party kicks off at 8PM EST. Make sure you follow @Shespeaksup and #SSFoodFight.
So throw those icky un-healthy meals at your nearest neighbor (or in case they don’t know this is a food fight, into the trash can) and let’s get healthy-cooking!
