Sadly, childhood obesity is on the rise. Whether it’s the abundance of fast food, electronic distractions, lack of exercise, or something else (or all of the above), parents need to be aware of their child’s health and encourage them to be healthy. I remember when I was younger, exercise consisted of walking the dog, roller skating, or riding the bike around the neighborhood. Now it seems like the only things kids are exercising are their fingers (from all the video game playing.)
The challenge is to find fun and entertaining ways to get our children moving and exercising. To help encourage our kids to get moving, and to be creative and express themselves, Curious George is hosting a dance contest!
From now through April 2nd, you can submit a video of your child grooving to the Curious George theme song to CuriousGeorgeDanceContest.com. Ten finalists will be selected by the judges, based on creativty, enthusiasm, and originality. Public voting opens on April 16th through April 30th, giving fans the chance to vote for their favorite video.
The winner of the Curious George Dance Contest will have their child’s video featured on a Curious George DVD. They may even win a visit from George himself! How cool is that? All ten finalists will also receive a Curiosity Kit with a Curious George book, game, DVD, and other Curious George products.
This not only will encourage them to get in a little exercise, but is a great way to let their imaginations fly in creating awesome monkey-moves. Enthusiasim and originality count, so they can really let their “inner monkey” out and “go ape.” Encourage your child to get moving and have fun to the beat of the Curious George theme song for their chance to win!
For rules and complete contest details, visit CuriousGeorgeDanceContest.com. Also on the site is the download for the theme song and instructions for your video entry. Good luck!
