There’s something really cool about having your own Christmas tree. It’s like you’ve graduated – you’re an adult now – you have your own tree. You know that Santa probably won’t be visiting unless you pop out a couple of bambinos, and your eggnog recipe might be modified to include something more than just eggs, milk and nutmeg. 😉
Once you start having your own tree, then you also need to buy your own lights and decorations. Seriously – who knew that shopping for Christmas decorations was so much fun? Growing up, you never even ponder ornaments beyond what is already in the decoration box, other than things you might have made in school. But now there are so many different shapes and colors. Red, yellow, blue, green, pink, and even clear! I loved walking up and down the aisles find just the right colors (we went with silver and gold).
Finding lights was insane – apparently stores stock just a few boxes less than demand. When I finally had to shop for lights virtually EVERY store was out. Finally at the 4th store, I found an uber long strand of lights. *phew*
I just love that now I’m creating new holiday memories in my own home. I’ve got my Christmas tree up and it already feels like I’m home for the holidays. What do you do to make your house feel like home for the holidays?
