OK! I admit it. I am totally a picky eater. I do not eat vegetables with every meal and more often than not, I call my fruit smoothies my “fruit for the day.” While my palate may be happy, there’s a reason that there’s a recommended daily value of vitamins and minerals on the side of every food item in the grocery store. Our bodies NEED certain vitamins and minerals to stay healthy.
When I was younger, I ate my vegetables (but only because I HAD to) and took my Flintstones vitamins (never the orange ones – always pink or purple.) Now, while I do try to eat my fruits and veggies, I know I’m not eating as much as I should. I didn’t even realize the impact it was having on me until one of my friends suggested I supplement my diet with vitamins. Once I started taking vitamins, WOW!, did I notice a difference.
I have more energy.
I feel more alert.
And my skin cleared up. (Praise Him!)
I feel healthier and I look healthier. And it is noticeable enough for OTHER people to notice as well.
I didn’t even realize how much my body was missing important nutrients until I started taking vitamins to help supply them.
It honestly took me awhile to get used to taking vitamins. The biggest problem I had was simply remembering to take them. It would start out great with the vitamins in the cabinet, but sadly, as the days passed, the out-of-sight, out-of-mind effect would kick in and I’d start forgetting. The trick for me was to not put them in the cabinet at all. My vitamins and minerals are sitting proudly on the counter – little pills that glare at me with little vitamin eyes until I take my recommended daily dose.
While I’m still working on eating a more balanced diet, I’m glad to know that I can still get many of the vitamins and minerals it needs to stay healthy. Take a moment now to look at what you’re eating on a daily basis. Are you getting all the nutrients your body needs?

I can’t believe you didn’t like the orange flintstones. They were the best! 😉
Hey now! Fruit smoothies totally count as fruit. And they’re great for washing down your daily vitamin!
I can totally relate! I’m a super picky eater. I was actually a vegetarian for 17 years, but I hated most vegetables. In fact, I think there are only five that I eat, if you count corn as a vegetable. I’m also horrible at remembering to take my vitamins.
didn’t eat orange or grape vitamins–blech
I’m a picky eater too and I don’t like vegetables! I really think I need a vitamin, and I could use more energy and clearer skin 🙂
I just recently picked up some fish oil Nature Made supplements! My sister in law said they have helped her out! Now I just have to remember to take them! =)
More energy…what is that! I do eat super well but I am thinking more Vitamin D would be helpful. I drink too much diet coke. Anywho…I enjoyed your post. THanks for all the good Nature Made infor.
I have the same out of sight out of mind problem with vitamins. I used to leave them sitting out on the counter, but we had so little counter space. Now I am getting better at giving the kids their vitamins, and I’m bad, I just take theirs. It’s better than nothing, right?
I never thought about taking vitamins, I always had in my mind that I would only need them as I get 35ish+ but have been reading they are good, even at my young age.
Thank you for this introduction, but more importantly, your experience.
I think (groan) that I just hit the lovely peri-menopause stage and I’m really suffering from the blahs. I think adding vitamins to my daily routine might really help!
I too am a picky eater and Nature Made vitamins are our favs!
vitamins help to improve health and may make one feel better as a result of improved health

I recently started taking, vitamins on a consistent basis, but then I broke into a really bad case of canker store and nothing changed but the addition of vitamins. So I had to stop for a bit and everything got better, now i am hesitate to start a gain, but will slowly get back to it. 🙂
I always take my vitamins and make sure my kids too do!! good job on making sure to get yours too hehe.
I agree with your post and I’m glad you mentioned that we don’t even know what we’re missing until we ‘fix’ it. You seem to be functioning just fine, but yeah, when you put the proper nutrients in, you sure do notice a positive difference.
we have always taken vitimins, and voted daily for your entry, good luck https://www.facebook.com/permalink.php?story_fbid=217071745018990&id=100000743391399
